PIANO, KEYBOARD & ORGAN TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 30 years teaching experience. I ran the YAMAHA MUSIC SCHOOL in Bury which had 5 teachers and 300 keyboard and organ pupils.  I am currently teaching approximately 200 students in local primary schools and at my home address.

YAMAHA ELECTONE FESTIVAL

I was the NATIONAL WINNER of the YAMAHA ELECTONE FESTIVAL and performed my own composition at the Royal Festival Hall in London 1991. I was a finalist in the EUROPEAN YAMAHA ELECTONE FESTIVAL in Zurich 1991.

YAMAHA QUALIFICATIONS

I hold the YAMAHA TRIPLE 5: a teaching and examining qualification in piano, organ and theory.

ASSOCIATED BOARD QUALIFICATIONS

I have grade 8 piano, organ and theory.

YAMAHA TEACHING TECHNIQUE

With my YAMAHA training I have been able to devise an excellent group tuition course for children in schools. This has proved highly popular and successful, with children acquiring keyboard and note reading skills in a fun, motivated, structured environment. On leaving primary school many of my students have continued their tuition with me on an individual basis, building up a repertoire and working through the graded examination syllabus.

STUDENT EXAM SUCCESSES

I have a 100% pass rate with many of my students gaining distinctions from grades 1 - 8.

ADULT LEARNER

As an adult learner (I did a BA and MA as a mature student) I know how excited, determined and frustrated adults become. I know the fear of 'what if I can't' and the thrill of 'what if I can'. If you are an adult, out there, hovering about... Don't dither. Contact me. You might surprise yourself.

I believe in a good foundation in music.   Note reading skills, a good technique and musicality are instilled from the start. There are no short cuts but many rewards from this thorough approach.
